North Khorasan Governor Visits Iran Alumina Company’s Solar Power Plant Project
The esteemed Governor of North Khorasan Province visited the Iran Alumina Company’s (IAC) Solar Power Plant project today during his trip to Jajarm County.
According to the Public Relations and Social Affairs Department of Iran Alumina Company, the visit took place this afternoon, December 4 (13 Azar), accompanied by Dr. Hamidreza Badkoubeh, CEO and Board Member of IAC, Mr. Izadi, Governor of Jajarm County, Hojjatoleslam Houshmand-Nejad, Friday Prayer Leader of Jajarm County, and a number of provincial and local officials, deputies, and company managers. During the tour, the Governor reviewed the project’s physical progress and was briefed on the latest executive, technical, and infrastructural measures taken toward the power plant’s commissioning, strongly emphasizing the need to expedite the construction process.
Dr. Hamidreza Badkoubeh, CEO and Board Member of Iran Alumina Company, stated during the visit that the IAC Solar Power Plant project is being executed with the dual goals of expanding the use of renewable energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, thereby supporting national energy conservation initiatives.
He added that upon completion, a significant portion of the company’s production units’ energy requirements will be supplied by clean energy sources. Furthermore, the construction of the 72 MW power plant will not only ensure a stable electricity supply for the company but also mitigate costs arising from potential power shortages or outages. This project is poised to play a vital role in the region’s sustainable development by creating new employment opportunities and reducing operational expenses.
Dr. Badkoubeh stressed the importance of utilizing local capacities and domestic technical expertise, noting that as the transition toward new and sustainable energies is a core priority for Iran Alumina Company, the implementation of such projects is a crucial step toward fulfilling environmental responsibility and ensuring production sustainability.
The CEO confirmed that according to the current schedule, the full commissioning of the various phases of the company’s solar power plant project will be completed by the end of the Iranian year 1406 (March 2025).
