The Head of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Iran Alumina Company announced that 7,044 man-hours of general and specialized HSE training courses were held during the first half of the current year, with the goal of promoting a culture of safety, occupational health, and organizational discipline across the company.
According to the Public Relations and Social Affairs Department of Iran Alumina Company, Engineer Mirzajani emphasized the crucial role of educational programs in ensuring personnel safety. He stated: “In line with efforts to enhance the safety culture, occupational health, and organizational order, and through close cooperation with the company’s Training Department, we have successfully delivered a total of 7,044 man-hours of specialized and general HSE training during the first six months of this year.”
He added that, in the mining contract sector, special training courses for contractors’ personnel are being organized in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare.
Mirzajani highlighted that, according to the company’s training plan, all employees in this sector are required to complete at least 16 man-hours of job-related training per year.
The HSE Manager further stated that general and specialized safety courses are also conducted at the alumina refining and aluminum smelting units, led by company HSE experts.
He pointed out that in order to keep safety awareness active and consistent, short-term Toolbox Meetings (TBMs) are regularly held during working hours and directly at the workplaces. These sessions help reinforce safety practices and ensure continuous awareness among employees.
Regarding workplace organization and productivity, Engineer Mirzajani explained that, based on the importance of strengthening discipline and efficiency, 5S system training courses are provided by environmental experts in operational and maintenance units.
He identified achieving standardized organization, cleanliness, continuous improvement, and creating a safer, more orderly, and more efficient work environment as the primary objectives of these courses.
Mirzajani also noted that, according to existing protocols, all new employees prior to receiving entry permits to company sites or mining areas must complete both general and specialized safety training programs as prerequisites for beginning work.
In addition, to enhance the technical competencies of HSE officers within the company and contracting firms, 16 specialized training courses have been designed with the participation of distinguished national instructors, 50% of which have been completed so far.
He concluded by emphasizing that training stands as one of the core pillars of the company’s HSE strategy, stating:
“Through targeted investment in employee education, we aim to raise awareness, improve skills and accountability, and minimize accidents and operational risks building a safe, sustainable, and world‑class work environment at Iran Alumina Company.”
